While out for a morning drive searching for owls along the foothills of Alberta, I noticed a family of barn swallows that had established a nest in a small birdhouse on a fence post. The parents were flying back and forth from the nest to deliver food to the babies inside. I wanted to capture the energetic birds, but did not want to disturb them. I sat at the edge of the road studying their activity and quickly realized when they left the nest each time, they would not return for another ten minutes or so. Once the area was clear I quickly set my camera on my tripod and positioned the camera in the grass below. I then stepped back and used my remote shutter to release each time the birds would return. It took several hours and hundreds of photos to get the shot how I wanted.
